  • grep the error log
grep -i maxclient /var/log/apache2/error.log

rut@rez:# grep -i maxclient /var/log/apache2/error.log

  • find apache2 binary PATH
rut@rez:/etc/apache2# ps -ef | grep apache
rut      2089     1  0 01:52 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start
www-data  2118  2089  0 01:53 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start
www-data  2143  2089  0 01:54 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start
www-data  2144  2089  0 01:55 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start
www-data  2145  2089  0 01:55 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start
www-data  2146  2089  0 01:55 ?        00:00:00 /usr/sbin/apache2 -k start
rut      2201  1516  0 01:59 pts/5    00:00:00 grep --color=auto apache


  • find the apache2 path configuration

rut@rez:/etc/apache2# /usr/sbin/apache2 -V | grep SERVER_CONFIG_FILE
 -D SERVER_CONFIG_FILE="apache2.conf"

rut@rez:/etc/apache2# /usr/sbin/apache2 -V | grep HTTPD_ROOT
 -D HTTPD_ROOT="/etc/apache2"


  • edit file like in the picture increasing the MaxClients to 1024 or any number you like
 
rut@rez:/etc/apache2# nano /etc/apache2/apache2.conf



service apache2 restart
